11:25 a.m. - Patsy reacts to the news that the surgery was
successful while in the waiting room of the hospital with family
and friends. While others jump to their feet and celebrate with
hugs, Patsy stays quietly in her chair. "I'll believe it
when I see it," she says. |
A number of people have asked
why I shot this photo the way I did, with the slow shutter speed
and intentional blurring and I'm never really sure what the answer
is. I try to first observe, then anticipate and react in situations
I shoot but the whys often elude me. I think in this case it
was because of the tension and energy in the air; everybody was
on pins a needles waiting to hear the news. I just think I tried
to reflect that in the photo . |
